Una de cada dos nuevas especies es un insecto

More than half of the 19,232 new species discovered in 2009, the latest year for which data were compiled, were insects (a total of 9738 species, 50.6% of total), as indicated in his report of State Observed Species 2011, published by the Institute for Species Exploration at Arizona State University. The second largest group of species new to science was the vascular lasplantas (2,184 species, 11.3% of total). Of the 19,232 new species discovered in 2009, only seven were birds, 41 mammals and other 1487, arachnids. Overall in 2009 there was an increase of 5.6% in the number of new species discovered over the previous year. The accumulated knowledge of species since 1758, when Linnaeus lived, was close to two million, says Quentin Wheeler, the Spanish Scientist, and an entomologist and director of Species, "but most are still classified. A reasonable estimate is that ten million species of animals and plants are still waiting to be discovered by scientists and amateur explorers"

This story is interesting but i wonder why there is more insects than animals coming about? I guess it could have to do with the fact that insects can reside in the ground and animals are pretty much stuck above, but either way in my opinion insects are gross and the world doesn't need anymore of them!

Apple entra en el cole y anuncia el fin de los libros de texto

iBooks Apple has introduced iPad, a new category of books, with experience of learning that can be completely different. Combine text with interactive animations, diagrams, photos, videos, 3D objects ... Students also can highlight or take notes, and search for content, always in touch and friendly environment of IPAD. The digital books are iBookstore and different subjects of McGraw-Hill and Pearson, and soon will come the Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, at a price of $ 14.99 or less. The sum of these publishers is a very important part of business textbooks in the United States.

Now this is the way things should be handles finding cheaper, yet improved alternatives to the regular old fashion way of life and thinking. I think the iPads for books is a great idea! Yes it may be more expensive to get the opperation going but if you look at the long term and how much it would pay off in the end if you could keep the iPads in good condition, the payout would be impecable.

Los médicos denunciarán los recortes que afecten al paciente

With many reccent budget cuts the Confederation of Medical Unions has urged professionals to report the adjustment measures that may hurt the quality of care and endanger the patient. Patricio Martínez Jiménez, secretary general of CESM states that in a press conference, which has ensured that we do not currently contemplate strike action to protest the cuts that are carrying out some autonomous communities, although not dismiss this action in the future. He believes there is little to be worried as far as cuts go, that the doctors will not lose.

The fact that some much stuff has to be even considered to be cut is just terrible! The country of Spain says they're trying to improve its economic status, but when you hear of so many cuts in areas that are so important to everyday life you have to wonder do they really have things under control?

Treinta años después, se reabre el conflicto de las Malvinas

On the 30th anniversary of the Falklands War, Falklands to the British, the conflict returns to confront the governments of London and Buenos Aires. The statements this week by David Cameron, in which he accused Argentina of a political exercise "colonial" in the South Atlantic archipelago, fast response found in the vice, Amado Boudou, which described them as "stupid and ignorant outburst." Boudou remains the head of the executive as the president. The escalation of tension also reflected the Foreign Minister, Hector Timerman, adding that Britain "is synonymous with colonialism."

This is slightly rediculous to be bringing back up after 30 years? Why not leave well enough alone Europe and Spain haven't fought since then so why bring it up? If you have unresolved problems then you have unresolved problems but theres no reason to re-start a war, when 30 years ago the war never declared to be in Margaret Thatcher an implacable foe but the conflict lasted just 74 days. The outcome was disastrous for Argentina: 649 dead. For the fallen British side were 255.

Los impagos ponen al borde del cierre a los concertados

The words of the Minister of Education, Jose Ignacio Wert, has been trying to calm down the sector of school systems that has been very badly affected by non-payment of the concerts and cuts on substitutions and educational programs. About 4,205 schools have been affected by this. The worst cases were taking place in Valencia, the Balearic Islands and Catalonia. In these areas have accumulated several months of delays in payment for the cost of running the centers. Looking at laying off over 1,000 million and still demanding a hard work week for those who aren't cut with no more in pay. "This causes serious injury to personal administration and services, whose salary depends on the economic front and on the other hand, the centers begin to not be able to keep running, so its closure could occur imminently, leaving Classless students and teachers without work ", emphasized Jesus Val Pueyo

It's really sad that schools are suffering. Thats the one thing people can never take away from you is your education. It is the most important thing for success in life. I really think there is other areas that should be cut before schools. Everyone says the children are the future of America, well is it any different in a 3rd world country?

Un máximo de 24 horas para localizar a los desaparecidos del Costa Concordia

Un máximo de 24 horas para localizar a los desaparecidos del Costa Concordia

Rescue services have between 12 and 24 hours to finish the work of finding the survivors among the wreckage of a cruise ship "Costa Concordia" which sank on Friday night in front of an island in Tuscany. So far it has confirmed the deaths of 11 people and the disappearance of a total of 4,200 passengers and crew aboard. Divers have been hopelessly searching the oceans for bodies of survivors. They also will be using a small explosive device to try and locate bodies amoung the waters.

This is so sad! I wonder what happened with the boat to make it sink, it never says in this article. Things should be done to improve the safety features in such boats they need to be more prepared for an event like this there should be enough boats and life jackets for everyone. Actions must be taken to have a 0% death rate.

El Gobierno exige un pacto de salarios del dia 30

The Prime Minister, Mariano Rajoy, told authorities that the next 30days he would like a basic line of labor reforms and also a deal for a wage moderation. The Prime Minister is having the president of the CEOE, Juan Rosell, and general secretaries of CC.OO. and UGT, Ignacio Fernández Toxo and Candido Mendez all work on achieving a compact source of revenue for years to come. This will be consistent with the delicate state of the economy and adjustments that are being implemented, including salary freeze officials and the minimum wage.
I think this is a good idea and should be done in the U.S. If we took more time to deal with our own economic status maybe we wouldn't be looking at such a rough time and a high unemployment rate, and low graduation rate, and high depression.
